Lars Simonsen and his family kayaked 4000 miles on a Hobie Tandem Island - The longest family kayak trip ever)
Motivated by losing their house and job Lars simonsen and his family decided to do the most adventurous thing that they have ever done. This ordinary family from Denmark decided to embark on the World's longest family expedition by sailing kayak. Lars and his wife and their two young kids, aged 5 and 7 set out on a 4000 miles, one and a half year expedition from Copenhagen to Istanbul. The family kayaked all the way across Europe and lived in a tent for 1 and a half years. They were challenged by this experience in ways they could never have imagined, some days they spent up to 26 hours out on the water. What they hadn’t anticipated was to goodwill and support that they would receive from the many kayaking, sailing clubs and local people along their route and how their story shared in the media would bring people out to meet and support them along the way.

I have been lucky enough to take part in four Hobie Fishing World Championship events all across the world, and last year I had a crazy dream. I wanted kayak fishermen in the United Kingdom to experience the same thrill that I have, and rub shoulders with international kayak fishermen from across the world. We have some great kayak fishing competitions in the UK, which have a really good vibe. I wanted to combine the social side of these events with a crazy international mix of kayak fishermen at a world class kayak fishing venue. And so, Dizzy’s London International kayak fishing festival was born…
